Making Your ERP Work for You
Are you investing in an expensive ERP implementation but worried about results?
A recent survey of TechRepublic members determined that end-user adoption of an ERP package was the greatest concern among IT professionals. http://www.dba-oracle.com/art_erp_factors.htm
In a report on SAP end-user training, Gartner Research found that organizations that allocate less than 13 percent of their ERP costs for training are three times more likely to see their ERP projects run over budget and over time as compared to organizations that allocate17 percent or more on training. According to this report, enterprises should allocate a minimum of 17 percent of the total cost of an ERP project to training.
As these reports suggest, thoughtful and effective end-user training is an imperative for successful ERP implementation. The single most important decision in ensuring the success of your ERP implementation is choosing a training partner who will guide you through the education of your workforce in the new system. This will determine the difference between a successful and a marginal implementation of a new system.
At Edutech, we have a separate organizational group dedicated to address just these concerns. Our Application Training Solutions practice specializes in creating training for ERP implementation. This group comprises of ERP specialists, as well as a training development team that includes instructional designers, visual designers, programmers, and system deployment specialists, all of whom have extensive experience in designing process training. The ATS group provides pre-blueprinting overview training, development of training material to functional team/configuration, and super-user and end-user training.
The ATS instructional designers design flexible ERP training delivery models that address different learner styles. They analyze the learning styles of the employees at the client site and determine the best combination of delivery media for the training, ranging across structured, non-linear, contextual, search-based, and diagnostic learning. Employees thus have several gateways into learning to work with the new processes.
Selecting the right ERP for your organization is important. Selecting the right training consulting partner is critical.
